The Grand Prix season in Singapore returns with star-studded concerts, parties & lifestyle experiences next month!
Singapore wil host two-time Grammy award winner rock band Linkin Park leads the barrage of stars on a one-night-only musical experience at the Padang stage on race day, September 25. Get a close-up look at Chester Bennington, Mike Shinoda and the rest of the LP boys by collecting a wristband at the stage front, which is limited to 2,000 fans per day on a first-come-first-served basis.
On September 24, get ready for some hip-shaking and dancing with Colombian singer-songwriter and global megastar Shakira, performing at the Padang stage with songs from her latest albums She Wolf and Sale El Sol. Also performing at the Padang stage on September 23 and the Village Stage on September 24 is internationally acclaimed Filipina singer and Glee special guest star, Charice Pempengco.
The musical acts just keep going throughout the circuit, specifically at the Esplanade Outdoor Theater (Zone 4), Village Stage (Zone 1). Reggae fans can get down to the groove with “Mr. Boombastic” himself, Shaggy, on September 24 and 25. Experimental trip hop prodigies Massive Attack’s Daddy G & 3D will also get on the stage on Friday, September 23. On September 24 and 25, retro lovers can sing their hearts out with legendary showman Rick Astley.
Even Orchard Road will be decked up in the GPSS festivities as Rev Up @ Orchard turns this popular hub into a multi-sensory world of music and entertainment. Daily music performances will be staged in front of a 4-meter high stiletto structure at the event space in front of Mandarin Gallery. With a long line-up of artists playing every night starting September 16, experience only the best performances all for free, with many photo-taking moments against the 4- meter stiletto.
The parties don’t stop when the sun goes down as three performers sizzle your night away at Avalon, the newest nightclub in Singapore. Fans of electro house music can catch Grammy award-winning DJ Benny Benassi on September 23 and the Chemical Brothers on the 25th. Boy George fans will get a treat as the DJ and icon spins on the 25th.
Asia’s first supermodel DJ Angie Vu Ha will helm a power-packed performance at the St James Power Station, on September 23. A line-up of some of the best female regional DJs of Singapore will also be performing every night from September 19 at St James culminating in a DJ face-off on the race weekend. Party animals looking for more gigs well into the night would not be disappointed at Butter Factory, Ku De Ta and Zouk as they offer crowds numerous party options during GPSS 2011.
For the ultimate A-list party, head over to the Amber Lounge and Podium Lounge, two of Singapore’s hippest clubs where you will find the FORUMLA ONE drivers, stars and celebrities in town, partying in style. Returning to Temasek Reflections, Amber Lounge continues to be recognized as the ultimate VIP nightlife experience and after party for F1 race drivers; while Podium Lounge features a range of international DJs (including Surf from Boracay), haute couture swimwear fashion show and oodles of G.H. Mumm Champagne.
“This year, the GPSS showcases a star-studded lineup of international and local music artistes as well as a myriad of lifestyle offerings for everyone to partake in, which is why GPSS continues to be the must-attend event for visitors worldwide,” said Ms Chan.
