Philippines AirAsia Head of Commercial, Gerard Peñaflor said, “It’s a great honor for us to be appointed as the official airline partner for Ati-Atihan. Our team of highly trained pilots and cabin crew are excited to welcome everyone who will be traveling to and from Kalibo to be part of next year’s festivities.”
As the official carrier, Philippines AirAsia will actively participate in the festival by supporting KASAFI’s activities, parades and pageants aside from providing free air transportation for invited guests of the “Search for Mutya It Kalibo Ati-Atihan 2016” and promotional fares for the general public.
KASAFI Chairman, Albert Menez said, “Our partnership with AirAsia will help attract more tourists, merry-goers, devotees and balikbayans to Kalibo given the airline’s extensive network in the whole of ASEAN, China, Australia, Japan and India. The festival organizing team is doing our best to create the finest and most memorable celebration in the history of Ati-Atihan festival in honor of Señor Sto. Niño de Kalibo.”Philippines AirAsia is a member of the AirAsia Group that has been awarded the world’s best low cost carrier for seven consecutive years since 2009 by Skytrax. It flies direct to Kalibo from Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Incheon and soon from Puerto Princesa City in Palawan via Fly-Thru service starting early next year.
KASAFI is the duly appointed festival organizer of Ati-Atihan festival, the Philippines’ “Mother of All Festivals.” Among the highlights of the festivities are street dancing contest or Sadsad Ati-Atihan contest on January 16; Hala-Bira Ati-Atihan nights; Kaenan sa Plaza; Aklan products showcase; Aklan visual arts exhibit and street bazaar from January 11-17 and beauty contest on January 8 with special prizes from AirAsia.
